Early 1960ish B+W Italian movie title wanted
I saw this movie in a university film series 1960-1966.
A naïve student is going to visit his girlfriend over break. Instead of the train, he's offered a ride by a slightly older worldly guy with a 2-seater sports car. The student shows the driver a photo of the unappealing near-fiance, who's scowling, scrawny, and wearing a dress buttoned up to her neck.
It's a 2 day drive. Along the way, the student gets taken to a bar. Not the sort of thing he's used to. That evening, the other guy demonstrates how easy it is to pick up beautiful, fun-loving females.
Student is really starting to get off from this glimpse of a life of adventure and action. They're speeding down a country road, and he's really getting into it. He urges the driver on, "Faster. Faster." Driver loses control of the car and wraps it around a tree. Driver picks himself up unhurt. Student was killed.
Born to be wild. Born to be mild. Don't try to change things. Loved the fatalism.
