How long do I have to break a lease after I sign it
I just signed a lease on Thursday, today is Saturday, I heard you have a certain amount of business days to break a lease after you signed it with out any penalties. Is that true, do I have time to get out of it with out any problems, I am already down one business day.

Read your lease agreement if you have a copy of it, that should give you an answer.

If you were undecided then you put a lot of people out.

    Hello kenneth:

You heard wrong. With rare exceptions, once you enter into a legal agreement, you'll be held to it.

That doesn't mean you can't negotiate your way out, and you should definitely try.

If there is any right to break a contract after you've signed it, it will clearly say so in the agreement, usually near the signature line or at the top of the first page.

If the agreement doesn't include any language about having the right to break it within a certain amount of time then there isn't any such right.

Loans have a federally mandated 3 day right of recission. Many other types of contracts write such an escape clause in. However if your lease doesn't include such a clause then you need to negotiate your way out.
