    Venting a toilet
    Hello, My problem is this;
    I'm installing a shower and a toilet side by side. From the main stack, the shower sits closest, then the toilet. Some time ago, a plumber friend of mine told me I could vent my toilet through my shower vent. My shower drain is to be 2" PVC, and the toilet 3" PVC. Both will be on the second story with the kitchen directly below. The shower drain can run between two floor joists and the toilet in the next joist space. The vertical space is 9 1/4" with the toilet drain run of 7' 4".
    Will I have to vent the shower and toilet separately?
    I do have access to another vent on the opposite side of the room, so I could run either vent to it, but with more difficulty.
    Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.
    THANKS!

    You can check your codes but in my area you will just have to vent the shower. Good luck, Tom
