How long do I have to wait to take a pregnancy test
Ive heard that you should take a pregnancy test first thing in the morning, but I've also heard you shouldn't. So which is it??

Take a pregnancy test with your first morning urine, it is always more accurate. I would also wait about a week after your missed period to get a more clear reading :)

I agree with nauticalstar, but sometimes it can take up to 2 weeks! I've even known a few women who said it didn't show up until a month after they missed. It all depends on how much hCG your body is producing. It is usually best to use your first-morning urine as well. You could always go to your Dr. and have a blood test done. These are actually 100% accurate 9pending no lab errors). Good luck to you!

I took mine a week after I had intercourse with my husband and it came out both positive and negative, but I was indeed pregnant, so I would say wait 2 weeks or get a blood test done

You should always use first morning urine. The tests say you can test as early as 5 days before missed period, but you run the risk of a false negative. I suggest waiting at least a week after your missed period.

I got two positives the day before my period was due and took the tests at night. It was the Answer brand. It's like $5 at Walmart in an orange box. Comes with two. Before I went to buy the tests, I drank water and juice, went to the store, came home, anxiously held the bathroom for another 20 or so minutes, so I held the bathroom for about an hour total, took the first test, it was a bright positive as soon as I started peeing on the stick. Drank a bunch of juice again, ran to the bathroom to take the second one about 15 minutes after the first one, I dropped it in the toilet (before I went to the bathroom) while I was opening it, still used it and still got a positive. The tests were not early predictor tests, they were regular cheap tests. I did not use first morning urine and I did not wait a week after my missed period. I was only three weeks pregnant. So I don't know about all that other stuff... goodluck

You can take it early, it is possible to get early results even if you did not use first morning urine. It happened to me as well... BUT... to help prevent a false negative... it is best to use first morning urine at least a week after missed period... the directions will say the same.

I am a firm believer in the dollar brand tests from the dollar store. I stocked up on them. Believe me, you will most likely want to take many many tests until you get your period or a positive, and probably a couple more even after a positive.. :)
