    "nose tossing"
My dog sometimes uses her nose to tip over her water bowl. She sometimes does the same thing with her food container. Sometimes she does it to the point that the skin on her nose peels and starts to bleed. Why does she do this? Should I "control" this behavior? My dog's 6 years old. Thanks!

    Dog's Nose
    Hi,
The best advise on what to do would come from your Vet.
Please ask the Vet how to stop it.
    Best of luck,

I would start by giving her dishes she can't get her nose under. They are hard to describe, so I am giving you a link to a picture. See http://www.petsmart.com/global/produ...1078323611448À. I have found them at Big Lots too. Dogs can't get their nose or paw under them to turn them over. They can't get ahold of them with their mouth, and pick them up either. They greatly reduce, but do not eliminate spilling the water dish. Some dogs will dig in the water dish. We have 3 of the larger ones we use as food dishes for our 2 dogs and a water dish, plus a smaller one we keep in the car for away from home use.

I am concerned about the bleeding. Perhaps you could reduce the problem if you give her a firm ''Bad dog!'' when you see her nosing under something.
