Adding remote control to Hampton Bay Edgemont ceiling fan
I recently purchased a Hampton Bay "Edgemont" ceiling fan with LED light kit. The box clearly states that the fan is set up for a remote control add-on (non-dimable). But the fan doesn't work at all with the remote unit. The light works fine when pressing the light control on the remote, but when I press the fan controls the light starts blinking. I followed the wiring instructions that came with the fan kit as well as those that came with the universal remote, but it seems like there is a connection gone hay-wire somewhere. When I spoke with a Home Depot electrical employee I was told that perhaps the fan motor is bad and that I should just return it. When I called Hampton Bay technical support, I was told that the "Edgemont" model was not remote adaptable. BUT, both the box and paperwork that came with the fan state that a remote unit can be added.

Can you shed any light on this problem?

How do you have the remote kit wired?

I have the same fan and the same problem. I contacted Home Depot about the problem and they have yet to respond.

I went on their website and read the reviews on this fan and everybody said the light was awful.

It sounds like the box is incorrect and this fan cannot be used with a remote.

You are not alone, I too have the blinking light problem. My husband installed it and he knows what he is doing, he has experience. He thinks it has to do with the LED light. Oh well. It IS a pretty fan though.

You can buy remote kits for fans with fluorescent/LED lights, they cost more.

I fixed the blinking light problem on my hampton bay fan. Set the light on the remote to 100%. That will fix the issue. Make sure to keep the dimmer at 100% and you'll be all set
