    Is Timmy homesick?
We recently moved Timmy from his home in Texas to our apartment in Colorado. In Texas, Timmy lived with my fiance's father and two other indoor cats. They had lived together since kittens. Timmy was always the distant cat of the three, he is a drama queen and needs a lot of attention. My fiance's mom died about 2 years ago and the amount of attention Timmy was getting went WAY down. We thought that he would LOVE coming out to us because we would love on him SO much, which we do. Things are good most of the time. But recently, Timmy has started meowing at our front door and we have never heard him be this vocal. He sits there and meows and when we shew him away, he just goes right back. Does this mean he misses his buddies? Do you think he is mad at us for taking him from home? We give him everything he needs and more, is there anything you guys might recommend? I don't want to be letting him down. Thanks for anything...

That was a really well written explanation about your problem kitty. I guess it does sound like he is missing his buddies and I guess there is no way you want to send him back because you would rather conquer this problem. May I suggest getting him another cat as company. I know it takes a while for two strange cats in a household to connect in any way but hissing, but it may be something to consider. He definitely needs his mind to be taken off this separation and that's exactly what it is 'separation anxiety'.

In our area we have the equivalent to a 'horse whisperer' only she visit homes where there are problem dogs, cats, goats, etc. you name it she talks to it. Surprisingly enough she gets results because she claims to solve say, an anxiety problem in a cat or dog, she talks to them and they communicate with her. She is does have a more then average success rate in figuring out 'why fido is pouting', etc. And there is the mexican guy in LA who sorts out only dogs and has a TV programme about it. He is really quite awesome.

I guess you are going to have to keep on shewing him away until he gets the idea that this is where he is supposed to be for the present time. Eventually he will. Good luck, cause I know just how pesistent and cats can be. They are the epitome of tunnel vision.

I would try and get him a playmate as tickle suggested. But take things slowly maybe a female I think they get along better with the opposite sex. Also try to get him a window seat so that he can watch the world. :)

Did Timmy get to go outside in Texas? It could simply be that he wants to go out. I know that my Rana-cat is very happy to be inside through most of the winter, but around now, if I go close to a door she is at it meowing like anything in the hope that I will let her outside.
