I have a stackable Kenmore washer. A few weeks ago, after working perfectly for many years, the washer went dead. The diagnosis was control board, which was replaced. The machine came to life but would not stop filling. A water level sensor switch was replaced with a new one but the problem persisted. Sears technician spent two hours to fix with no solution. The water sensor level hose appears intact and we can get the machine to stop filling and begin the cycle by blowing air into the sensor switch. The ohm meter reads correctly as well suggesting the board and switch are probably OK. Any ideas? Would replacing the hose help? Can two sensor switches fail for no apparent reason?

The reason a machine will overfills is the water level switch or the water valve. Have you tested the water valve? It is where the hoses attach ar rear of unit. You do have to remove the control panel to access it. If you need help in testing it post back Good Luck

I fixed the problem after the service tech left with me with a significant bill , a request for future parts and labor, and a non-working machine. I cut 1/2 inch off the water level sensor hose and reinserted it at the base of the tub. This 30 second fix got the machine working perfectly again. I'll order new hoses just the same. They don't make service techs like they used to. This guy didn't seem to have a clue.

Yea, I know. I make a lot of follow up calls for a lot less than the orignal. Many repair folks are just parts changers anymore. Many times you can fix yourself. Not to difficult to repair most units. Glad you're going without much more expense. Good Luck and come back to this forum in the future for help, maybe prior to calling tech.
