03 Honda Civic "maint. Req" light blinking
The "maint. req" light blinks like 10 times when I start the car, it does not remain on but it does it every time I start the car.

It has done this once before, and I do not remember how to make it stop.

And since it has done this before, what is the cause?

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thanks !

That sounds to me like a bulb-check sequence.

On many vehicles, upon start up, several lamps will illuminate. Some come on "solid", then go off, and some have a flash sequence or flash rate, and then go off. A lot can be learned about the systems in the vehicle.

If, say for example, that "maint req" light flashed ten times but then instead of going off, it stayed on. What does that mean?

That usaully means the vehicles manufacturer has pre-set that lamp to notify you that some maintenance is likely due at this mileage. Check your odometer and compare that to the chart in the owners manual.

If you don't have a manual, don't fret. Call the dealer's service department and ask what services are recommended for you vehicle at your current mileage.

This means that your maintenance reminder is getting close to coming on all the time. If you aren't using it to time your maintenance you can reset it.

Turn off the engine. Press and hold the Select/Reset knob in the instrument panel, then turn the ignition switch ON (II). Hold the knob until the indicator resets (approximately ten seconds).
