Co-signer was ordered to small claims court, does he need to be there
My father co-signed for a loan for me; however I could not pay the note because I became unemployed. I have to go to small claims court, and I was informed that the debtor is requesting my father to be there also. My father is 76 and lives in another state and will not be able to come to Ohio where the small claims suit will be held. What steps can I take to informed the court that my father is too old to travel, and does not have the money to come to Ohio.

Was it a REQUEST or an order? If your father co-signed, they WILL go after him as well. They may be using this hearing to get a judgement against you both. You should obtain a letter from your father's doctor stating his inability to travel and bring that to the hearing.
