I've got a bidet (the thing next to the toilet) that sounds like a machine gun going off (pulsating hot water pipe) every time I use it (or turn on hot water). Seeing as this noise just started recently, any idea what the cause maybe this pulsating ?

A bidet is just about the same thing as a lavatory except you set on it.
What I need is the name of the valve that's installed on the bidet. Does the hot water vibrate on all settings, (Fill/spray) or just one? If it vibrates on all settings then the problem is in the hot water valve. To tell you more I need more details. Regards, Tom

It always seems to happen in the fill mode not splash. Also, I found that the majority of the time it happens when you are about to turn the taps off. What I also noticed is that if you try and open the hot first, it will pulsate. By opening cold and then slowly opening hot, you can avoid it. Also, when shutting the taps, if you close cold first it'll pulsate when your going to shut off hot.

As for brand, the bidet is an American Standard but the taps don't have anything written on them. I checked underneath and all you see are the outside hot and cold valves and then in the center (black ring looking) which has the hot and cold pipes go it.

You have a American Standard bidet fitting on your bidet. There are two places I would check first. Depending on your fitting, the 953800-007A transfer valve and the hot water 994053-0070 or 268610-007A valve cartridge. Either one would give you the situation you describe. Good luck, Tom

Well, I took a good look at the unit today. Both the hot and cold valves seem to be fine as I opened them up right before the go into the main taps and both seem to run fine with pressure. I found a screw from the bottom of the vacuum breaker which when removed, allows you to pull out the large plastic cylinder with a small valve on it. When I put everything back together, (no new parts) the cold water pressure is fine but the hot water pressure is lacking... basically it does not spray up even a 1cm. The hot and cold water go from taps into a central T which then feed up into this column (which you rotate to go from fill to splash). Any idea what the issue is... is it this large cylinder you call the cartridge? If so, how does this thing go as it just looks like a large piece of plastic with two holes?

The cartridge is located just below the stem and handle. What you have opened up is the transfer valve but since you failed to give me the model of your bidet I can only give you general information and not any specifics. Tom
