Parents death and Equity Line of Credit
    Hello,

I have quite an interesting situation regarding our home and a Equity Line of Credit against the house.

In August 2004 my mother died, and in March 2006 my father passed away. We took care of all of the credit cards and such, however we have been afraid to tell the bank about their death. Here is my situation:

Shortly before my father passed away, we transferred the house from my parents name to my name which was done through a lawyer which fully documented, notorized and clean (as far as I am aware). However, there is still a equity line of credit against the house. To this day, the bank still sends statements with my parents names on them. We have been been paying the bills, because we are afraid to act on it.

Is there a way to get the bank to drop the equity line of credit or is there anything that I should know about this situation as far as dealing with the bank?

Talk to the bank, let them change the line of credit to a lien on your home in your name.

Or of course just pay it off with a lone in your own name.
