    Child care
    Hi
I am a single mom of two. I want to advance in my job and get a different position making more money but I won't qualify for state child care. Child care is very expensive. Are there any programs to get financial aid for child care while you work if you don't qualify for the state?

Head Start, I have heard they offer help, free or they charge by what you make. Check it out. I think it might be for younger children but at least it is worth a chance. You could post an ad for a teenager to help you out. They are getting childcare experience and helping you out at the same time. They are way cheaper than childcare! Good luck!

HeadStart is for children ages 3-5 and then there is also an Early HeadStart program for
0-3. Generally, the programs are half days but you can find some that offer full days. You have to meet income requirements and you will be expected to be involved in the program, doing "in kind" activities (which are liberally defined).

Maybe your area's Community Action has daycare available. They generally do not charge as much as another daycare but it is not free either.
