What Are the Chances of.Emancipation for Me
I am 17, going on 18 in about 8 mo. My problem is my parents are trying to direct my life too much and nothing I ever do is good enough. When I talk about wanting to get out of the house and move away (no matter how calm I am) they overract and say I am a loser and messing up my life and will never be able to be anything in life... it is truly pathdic. They tell me I'm just a slut and am stupid to want to move out because I will bring in a slew of guys (which is very untrue. I have only done anything"bad" with one man that's it). Im tired of their constant emotional abuse thought. They say terrible things and I don't need to hear it
I just want to live on my own now, so I thought emanciapation would be a good idea. But I found out my chances are about zero.

    Reasons to be emancipated:
-Graduated High School a Year early
    -Have a full time job
    -Enrolled in College
    -Able to support myself completely
-Want to be out from parental control
-I am mature enough to live on my own

I figured a judge could rule me from under the control of my parents, I just done believe any judge would... because the legal adult age in Indiana is 21... I just need the rights of an 18 year old so that I can move out. My parents go overboard and when I talked about moving out possibly they took my internet, car, drivers license, control of my bank account (all money I earned from my job), and threw my cell phone in a lake, they took away my right to go Anywhere or see anyone. This is all because they don't want me to go anywhere. If I am responsible enough to have a full time job AND finish H.S. a year early and enrol in college (start this Aug 2007) shouldn't I be able to live on my own?

Have you tried consulting with an attorney? If they are in control of your money, you will need help in getting this done.

Personally, I would say hold out for 8 more months then move and never look back.

I want to consult an attorney but I do not have a phone, or a car. I have to sneak on the internet. I feel completely bound and I can't do anything about it. My mom is being completely hateful to me and I can't live here... I would run away but it would make the situation worse for me and the person I stay with... Also I don't know if I would end up in Juvy. Because of running away...

You left out the part about your parents being upset because you are currently dating a 25-year-old. I'm not sure what a court would think of that if you were going to try and be emancipated.

Here's a challenge for you: In 8 months, you will be able to do whatever you want legally. That means being responsible for all your own actions and the results of them. If you really want to be in charge of your life, start practicing now by following your parent's rules for the next 8 months. Just keep telling yourself this is the price that you need to pay in order to be on your own at 18. The practice will be good for when you are on your own and want something _now_, instead of waiting and working for it.

I agree with Froggy- wait the 8 months. If he loves you he will wait too.

An emancipation process is going to take you 8 months to go through anyway, so why don't you just wait and turn 18 then have at it
Then your parents can never throw the emancipation thing in your face
