Put residence in LLC to protect from pending lawsuit?
I am in the early stages of a lawsuit. I believe it to be friviolus, but I am in a very liberal city where sympathy for the "little guy" (not me) might prevail. The Judge is noted for her over reaching the law and has been repeatedly overturned on appeal.

If I transfer my residence into a LLC in the next few months, will it be protected if a judgment is ordered? The case is at trial in June 2008.

    Hello pacific nw:

Nope. As a matter of fact, if it can be shown that you transferred your property to avoid this lawsuit (which is exactly what you're doing - therefore I would bet that it can be SHOWN), you can be criminally charged with fraud.
