    Judgments and garnishments
    Hi

A few months back I received a judgment on an old credit card that was bought by a collection agency. I just received a letter from them and called to set up payment arrangements. I was instructed that they did not have to accept this amount and could garnish my wages without having to file for a writ of garnishment because they have that judgment. Is this true?

    Thanks for your help! :)

If they have a judgement they still have to go back to the court to obtain a garnishment order. But that's a mere formality. They will have no problem getting one. So they have little incentive to accept a settlement for less than they can get via garnishment.
