    Lesbian pregnancy.
Hello everyone, as you already see I am a lesbian in a monogamous relationship and we are trying to get pregnant. A friend of ours who happens to be gay has decided to be the father of our child. I have been charting my ovulation signs and in order to inseminate my friend has been ejaculating into a cup and I have been placing the semen inside of my vagina using my fingers. The problem is that I have noticed that he hasn't been producing a whole lot of semen... maybe about a tablespoon. Will this decrease my chances of becoming pregnant? I'm inserting the semen in me as soon as he ejaculates in the cup by the way. Thanks for your advice and thoughts! P.S.-what do you ladies and lads think my chances are?

Using your fingers, your chances are possible, but not very likely. The semen needs to be shot up there with some force, the same as if a man were to ejaculate in you.

The amount of semen does not matter, because it only takes one little sperm to get you pregnant. :)

I wonder if she is trying to force the semen upward in anyway?

I know it may sound disgusting, but the best way to mirror that effect would be to use something like a turkey baster.

Yeah exactly or a syringe of some sort...

    I agree.

Here are some home insemination kits : Zavos ZDL - Home Insemination Kits

If you don't want to spend any money for this, contact a midwife or OB/Gyn and they may be able to help.

If you try to do it yourself with a syringe or something like that, please keep in mind that without the proper supervision you could cause vaginal injury :)

I agree using your fingers won't work. The average man only ejaculates about a tablespoon of semem and there are millions of sperm in that and it only takes 1 sperm to get pregnant... Good Luck :)

Well the thing is, I'm very squemish... I really don't like the idea of inserting a foreign object into my vagina so we figured that scooping up the semen and sort of jamming it towards the cervix would be just as effective.. don't you think... I know this isn't the same as ejaculation shooting out but the sperm is coming in contact with the cervix.

It may work over time, just because anything is possible. Just keep trying at it! And like I said above, you can contact a midwife or OB/Gyn and they may be able to help you with your situation :)

I agree about the fingers, it may work, but it would be better a more forceful way. I know you said you are somewhat sqemish about vaginal insertion, but maybe a IUI would be good for your situation. It is a very small cathetar and you can hardly feel it. You can read here. FertilityPlus: IUI FAQ
it is somewhat pricy (2-300 dollars), but may be best in your particular situation. And it is definitely cheaper than IVF or AI. I also suggest talking with your GYN to discuss options. REally though, if you want to become pregnant, you will need to get used to things going in and out of that area, because you will be in the doctor quite a lot, and that is of course the main area of focus... a turkey baster is nothing compared to the duck bills... LOL. Good luck to you all..

No it is not just as effective. Its largely ineffective. I really have to wonder where you got the idea to do this. If you look at the home insemination kits they include a syringe with a flexible thin tube. The tube is a lot thinner than a finger.
