Help please, I'm able to turn on my TV but there is no sound and I can't change channels. The TV menu doesn't appear and it won't switch to video. Any ideas?

Are you using a remote when trying to do these functions, or the buttons on the TV? What brand is the TV?

I tried both the remote and controls on TV. Its hard to tell if the image is OK since I just moved and have no cable... but the image on the TV doesn't look like normal "snow"... it has these vertical wavy lines along with "snow". It's a Sharp 27" CA26S10.

Okay, unfortunately I must say that the TV has probably gone bad. Usually when things start happening like that, it means the picture tube or the circuit board may have gone bad. Usually when this happens, it is time to retire the TV. Repair costs these days are usually much too expensive and you are better off buying a brand new TV. If you wish to make some extra cash, perhaps you can save the remote and sell it on Ebay.

When purchasing a new TV, may I suggest buying another Sharp, a Sony, or my first choice, Panasonic. These are quality televisions that will last you a long time. I am just saying that because of my experience with these models. Good luck and hope this helps.
