    Puppys throwing up worm
I have a momma dog who has 5 puppies (rat terrier mix). This morning I noticed a puppy throwing up. What came out was some foam and a worm(I think) it died within moments of being exposed to air. A short time later I noticed another puppy throwing up foam. I checked the stools & can't see visible worms. These puppies were born on June 9th. Other than the brief episode of vomiting these babies seem healthy & happy. I have some liquid wormer for puppies but not sure how to dose it for this age. Any suggestions?

    Thank you

Before dosing a young pup with worm med I would check with a vet first. Parasitic worms are normally more interested in the other end and are found in the stool.

Are the puppies outside? If so, the worm may be something thy found and ate. Still puppies frequently are wormed. If the worm medicine was the right stuff for new puppies, it should have come with directions on the dosage for them.

Why are you waiting until now and coming here for advice on this? There are books covering the hundreds of things you need to know before you go breeding dogs. Anybody that doesn't bother to learn a little about dogs should have their pets spay/neutered by 6 months. There is no excuse for just letting dogs breed. Such irresponsibility leads to unlimited misery. Do you enjoy adding to the millions of dogs slaughtered every year for lack of homes?

Than you for your concern Mr. Labman. I only asked a question. I did not ask for your opinion about me or the choices I make. Have a nice day.

Minimutt mom Every choice that you make regarding animals effect everyone in the world that pays taxes. I as tax payer help fund humane services that kill millons of dogs each year. These dogs are owned and breed by uninformed or careless dog owners. Sometimes people are just ignorant to the fact of why they should spay/neuter their pets and some people are trying to make a buck and some just plain do not care. Please try and understand that some of the people on this site truly love and care for dogs besides their own. ASPCA: Dog Care Go to the 14th paragraph and there you will find some good information on spay/neuter. Also try to Google up rat terrier rescues and see how many of these little dogs are homeless and in shelters. Then maybe you can understand why people on this board get upset when people appear to have no clue on how to take care of dogs that they have let breed.

Well I too pay my taxes & every animal I own with the exception of the 1 dog are spayed or neutered. For anyone to make assumptions on my character or lack there of shows exactly how loving & kind you all are. I will be unsubscribing from this board because I came here for advice on a problem & got judgment instead. Thank you so much for you consideration and your kindness.

As a tax payer I am sure that you would rather see your money fund things other than our shelters killing millons of dogs each year. All we know about you is what you post. You posted that you have a dog with 5 puppies that have foam and worms coming out of their mouth. Serious breeders would normally have a vet that they could call to answer questions. So I think It was fair for Labman to assume that your were uninformed and adding to the problems of the dog world! Stick around you may learn a thing or two about empathy for dogs. Unless, You plan on keeping your puppies you can not be sure that one of them will not be 1 of the dogs slaughtered in a pound someday. People have money to buy dogs but some do not have the patience or perseverance to keep them for their entire lives. That is part of the reason our shelters and rescues are full. When they get to capacity then that is when they meet the bullett or the gas chamber. Spaying/neutering or keeping all of the puppies that you breed is the only way to certainly prevent this from happening. Btw I own a rat terrier /chiuaui mix that was bought for 300 hundred dollars and he was starved and beaten because he pooped & pee'd in the house... see what I mean by some people have money but not patience and perseverance.
