    80's claymation films?
Ok so there is a movie I remember watching when I was about 5 that was quite dark for a children's movie.
It had a little girl in it, with a man as a villain. I do not remember the plot at all-- but the animation is similar to Rudolph and the Life and Times of Santa Claus/Davy and Goliath.

    Any ideas??

I don't have a guess for you, but maybe some help. The wikipedia entry for claymation (Clay animation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) has a list of many claymation movies with the years they were made. That could give you good starting point.

I asked a question about a movie like this too! If you figure it out will you please let me know ([email protected])? Did the little girl sneak outside after she was supposed to be in bed because she left her doll outside? I hope this is the movie you are talking about because I was starting to think I made it up! Thanks!

The movie is called nutcracker fantasy..
Dreamy and dark Japanese-made stop-motion "Animagic" fantasy feature loosely based on E.T.A. Hoffman's "The Nutcracker And The Mouse King". Melissa Gilbert voices Clara, a young eager girl who receives a mysterious nutcracker from her eccentric Uncle Drosselmeyer (Christopher Lee), that starts her on a strange fever-dream adventure through different shadowy and colorful worlds. Christopher Lee lends his voice for several characters and even sings a couple of songs. Director Takeo Nakamura had previously worked as animator for several Rankin/Bass "Animagic" specials.
