There was a TV show that had a dog, I think he was a fox terrier or jack russell. I cannot remember his name but he used to dress up all the time and the one I remember best was when he played Romeo and Romeo and Juliet.

Sounds like a PBS show who's title is currently escaping me. Designed to encourage kids to read, if I recall correctly.
It's called "Wishbone" I loved that show.
