    Apartment lease
Hello: Two years ago, I vacated an apartment in raleigh NC before the lease was up. The landlord rerented the apartment and wants two months of rent that I owe. I have no problem paying the rent due and I will. However, the landlord is asking me to pay for "utilities (200), trash removal (500) and new carpeting (1300)". Several times I have asked the landlord to produce a paid bill/invoice to substantiate the charges. He refuses to do this and just wants me to pay. I say show me the paid bills and I will pay. What do I do? Teresa M.

You're doing fine. Make him prove it. If he can't, then he's full of it.

Exactly what you are doing. Tell hm to sue you and see how far he gets in court without producing documented bills.
