If it's been five years, and it's not growing any longer, I can't imagine it will grow much longer. But my understanding is that hair always grows, yours just may be extremely slow. You may just have to wait another five years unless there is a miracle hair-growing product out there.

Hair grows at a maximum rate of half an inch per month. It may grow faster or slower depending on genetics and your hormonal state. Your hair is growing, but you probably don't notice it. African american hair is fragile and has a curly texture. When you use relaxers, flat irons, curling ions or other chemicals, it will cause breakage and your hair will look like it's not growing. Try not use a lot of chemicals or styling products. You should also do deep conditioning treatments to keep your hair looking healthy.
Try getting your hair treated by a professional hair stylist every week or two. And also, get professional relaxers, not those at home box relaxers. Believe me, if you keep all this up for a few months, then it should work because I at one point had short, breaking, thinning hair that was in the worst shape! So bad that I cried a few times. But I finally start getting my hair treated every 2 weeks (I couldn't afford it every week) with shampoo and a really good conditioner by a professional and now my hair is in great shape! And try staying with the same hair stylist. Don't keep using different brands of products. Stay with one hair professional that uses the same stuff every time. Also, if you are, try not to put weave or braids in your hair for a while, also. I had to stop doing that, at least until my hair got stronger. Hope this helped. Peace
UGH! SO sick of folks saying it only grows a half an inch per month! That may be true for some cases but that's never been my case and my hair has been THROUGH IT ALL HONEY! (meaning breakage, cutting it off, thinning ends!) Let me tell you this, All you need to do is leave your hair alone! Get a hairstyle like braids, or cornrows and this is important: MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT TOO TIGHT! Here's how to tell: You can't bend your head down... You can't crack a FULL smile... blinking your eyes hurts.. If any of these aplly to you after getting your hair braided.. Tell the hairdresser to redo them immediatey!
Side note: Give your hair a break in between braids. Maybe wear a nice updo or down style that sutes you, but Im telling you! You want long hair, Braids are the way to go! K, hope that helped
Well first off you have to stay patient with your hair sweetie, just don't expect growth overnight becus everones hair grows at a different rate. My hair grows very fast and I also cut it very fast. It is sometimes genetics and how our diet is. Wash your hair regularly and deep condition, trim your ends and moisturize moisturize moisturize. Ii have long hair and I have been transitioning to go natural for 8 months now and eventually I am going to cut 4 inches. By the way to understand better you can go to YouTube - finey23's Channel and click on ma videos. It will tell you exactly what to do for hair growth. Take care
