    Contracts with a minor
When I was younger I got involved with a guy that was NOT good for me.
He eventually got me involved with porn and at the age of 13-14 I signed a contract. Although I was underage, It was a legal binding document and since I was emancipated from my mother... my signature was all that was required.
NOW I am told that if I WANT to sue and get out of the contract I NEED my mother to do it in my behalf.
    Help. Questions, comments anything?

    Hello jen:

I don't know who is telling you what, but if they're NOT your lawyer, don't listen. Listening already got you into trouble once. Don't do it again.

You need a lawyer. I don't think you were emancipated at 13 - not legally anyway. Does this contract have an end date, or are you under contract forever? That alone makes it illegal.

How old are you now? That is what is important.

I don't know what state this contract was written, but contracts with minors are voidable, and contracts with minors that are illegal are void.

It's illegal to involve a 13-14 year old in porn, so there is no contract. If you haven't signed anything since you were 13-14, then you are not in a contract. He's committed a crime. He should go to jail, period. You can always contact the DA's office and ask their opinion on the matter. I'm sure that the sex crimes unit will be very interested to hear it.

Just because someone is emancipated doesn't make it a legally binding contract, and whoever gave you that advice, if it was a lawyer, ain't a very good lawyer.
