    Water too HOT
    My water temp is 145
    Both thermostats are at 120

Is it necessarily a bad thermostat?
    How can I check?

    Thanks

If you can not control the temperature then you have faulty thermostats and they should be replaced. Good luck, Tom

If you have more time than money, and they are both the same, go buy one and put it in. If that fixes it, you have fixed it as easily and cheaply as you can. If not, try swapping the new one and the other old one. Again, it that fixes it, still cheap, but a little more work. If that doesn't fix it, go buy a second one and replace the other old one. OK, I put you to extra work, but I tried to save you money.

    Thanks Labman,

    They're both different.

Any other way to test the thermostats?

    Thanks

Yes, If you have a ohm meter or a continuity checker you can turn the adjusting screw while you check the contacts. But since they have to be disconnected to check them and are so cheap why not just change them both out and be done with it? The bigger one is the top thermostat and the smaller one the bottom. Cheers, Tom
