My American husband left me in 1999 and I am currently residing in France. I have tried locating him but have not been successful. I need to get a divorce and would like to know what steps I need to take. We married in MN in 1989. BTW, I am not a US citizen.

I don't know what the law is in France, but here where I live, a woman can file an 'irretrievable break-down' of marriage, and doesn't have to get anything from the husband.

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately I am living in France right now. Do you know if I can get a divorce in any states in USA? We were married in MN but left for an oversea assignment. He disappeared in Asia and have not been seen or heard from. We have no children or property to worry about, Any help will be appreciated.
