I bought Carpet Trim which came with nails at Lowe's, I'm transitioning from tiles to carpet. According to instructions I'm supposed to use the included nails to fasten the trim to the concrete floor. All nails bend as I try to drive them into the concrerte. Any suggestions?

I have never had much luck even with the special nails for cement. You could try gluing the metal strip to the tile with tile cement. You can drill holes for cement anchors. I like the Tapcons. They sort of look like blue sheet metal screws. You drill a fairly small hole, and then screw the screw directly into the cement. The flat head style might fit your strip best.

Adam, I did the same thing not too long ago. From carpet (with hardwood underneath) to porcelain tile. What I purchased was a carpet-to -wood transition threshold. It has hooks to catch the carpet on one side, and then the other side gets rubber malleted over, covering the capet edge and hooks,and it has a nice rounded edge. But to fasten it to the tile(before pulling the carpet, I predrilled through the threshold and down through my grout lines. I used 6 nails over a 5 foot space. Really nice finished look.

I would check with your carpet company - all the floor layers here use the nails for the smooth edge as well - even then I would use an adhesive to hold the transition. PL 700

Using the predrilled holes in safestrip as a guide I would drill the concrete and use concrete nails to anchor the safetstrip.

You'll need a hammer drill to start with, lay your carpet strip out and mark the holes on the concrete, using the hammer drill, drill 3 to 4 holes 1/2 drill bit, use a 1/2 dowl rod and cut 1" lengths, use liquid nails in the holes then push the dowl rod into the hole. Let this set up for 8hrs or so. After this is dry place your carpet strip back down and use the nails it came with or some like it, the dowl will hole the strip down.

You can also use anchors and screws to do the same thing, you still need a hammer drill and the right size bit for the anchor. Good luck
