Is it OK to hook up PVC to the back vent pipe and then to the duct outside?
I know you can use flexible plastic duct. So I can't think of a reason you can't use PVC.

You can, actually PVC has a higher melting point but I don't know about weakening of the pipe due to constant high temperatures, the flexible pipes are designed for that.

The only downside is that PVC hold onto the heat longer and there is more chance for condensation to build up, lint then clings to the condensation clogging the pipes quickly compared to metal ducts.

Thanks for the answer... I will stick with metal. Another quick question. I bought a Maytag dryer that buzzes when the dry cycle is over. It does not have a on, off switch for this. I don't want the buzzer. Can I disconnect the buzzer?

Is this a new dryer and under warrany ar a used and out of warranty?

Most dryers buzz when they are done, if it's constant that can be quite annoying. I assume you can just find the buzzer and clip the wires going to it without affecting other systems. If it does mess up something else like indicator lights etc just reconnect it.
