Ask Me Help Desk - What should I do?

I am currently 22 years old and a recent graduate. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with a minor in Business Management. After I graduated I kept the same job that I had had for about two and a half years; working for a retail website that sells shoes. My title is Assistant Manager, second to only the owner of the company because we don't technically have a manager. However, the owner only comes to this location for about an hour a week. Anyhow... this has nothing to do with my degree and I have recently been concerned about my future. My boyfriend, soon to be fiancé, is still in school and will graduate next summer but will then be pursuing another 4 year degree. Eventually he would like to move away from where we live now and I do not want to have this job forever, but I can't seem to really figure out what else I can do with my degree. I would like to eventually become a psychologist/counselor but I'm not sure if my personality fits that. I'm not very good with communicating with others and tend to be very shy and quiet. I have considered going back to school to get my Masters in Psychology but again, not sure if my personality fits with this. In the end of all this I do know that I would like to help children in lower income/trouble situations. I would love to work for Child Protective Services.

Overall, I guess I am asking for some advice and reassurance that my life isn't headed nowhere. Also any suggestions of something that I can do with the Bachelor's degree that I already have. Most jobs that I've found require either a Master's or experiene in the field which I don't have.

I think I just keep putting off thoughts of the future because it's not here yet... but I can't wait until it is here and decide to go back to school when I'm married with children. It would be a lot harder to do then.

At a minimum, you should be looking for a different job - it sounds like one possibly working with kids.

Where are you looking that you can only find jobs that require a masters? Look at monster.com or careerbuilder.com. (Monster in particular lets you search for "Entry Level" positions which is where you're at with your Bachelors)

No matter what you do, you're going to try and overcome the shyness issue. To have some measure of success in almost any line of work, you're going to need to learn how to communicate with others.

Don't worry about your degree. Worry about what you want to get out of life and go for it.

You're definitely going somewhere. You've applied yourself and obtained a degree(s)! Nothing to be taken lightly!
You may not have experience yet, but there may be apprentiships available. You have to find something that makes you happy without sacrifying your persona. Not an easy task, sometimes.
As far as communicating, I think you're doing OK.

When I was 22 I didn't know where my life was going. I was still trying to finish college and working in jobs that I knew I wouldn't be at forever. I am now 36 and am still searching for the perfect position. The only difference know is that I know what I want to be and am working towards it. I have a business degree. It sounds to me like you are questioning whether to stay in psychology and I have a wonderful motto that works for everything "WHEN IN DOUBT DO WITHOUT". With that being said, try to find a job that you can tolerate for a while, has good benefits and tuition reimbursement option. That way at least you are making an income, getting good medical insurance and can go back to school on someone else's dollar. Look for companies and positions that can be classified as stepping stones. There are plenty of companies out there that advertise this. With your business background and psychology influence you may want to look into the field of Human Resources. Start as a clerical person and see if it is something you would like.
