I have recently noticed a small bump on the outerpart of my vagina. It is small, round, smooth, and it does not hurt or itch or smell. Also I just recently got tested for STD's and it is not that. I have only been with one guy in my life, and he also got tested and does not have any std's. I have no idea what it is since every website automatically assumes if you have a bump down there it is herpes when I know for a fact it is not. Does anyone know what it could be? I am very curious and quite nervous.

Hpv... or more commonly known genital warts... they usually don't hurt will be small and may disappear within 2 to 3 months or may hang around for longer and may reappear elsewhere... I have them I know... sounds nasty but its not.. they never bother me and to be honest I never knew I had them... after I had my son they did my pap and I happened to ask them because I had noticed them(after you have a baby your always looking to make sure everything is ok) and she told me what it was... said it wasn't a big deal that 3 out of 4 people have them and it is one of the most commonly known stds in the US... but the ones I had just disappeared and now I don't have any... not saying they won't come back but its nothing to be worried about... talk to your ob...

Just got the herpes bit and no you don't have herpes... you would know if you had that because it would hurt like hell and look more like a little cut or open sore... but it does sound like hpv..

I had the same thing, but after a few years it can cause problems. I had to have a Procedure called LEEP, (they cut away part of the cervix) because after a while it can cause cancer, and I had the beginning signs of cell change which in turn becomes cancer.

It is N0T stds. I already got checked for that. It is one small bump, the same color as the rest of the skin. Its hard, not soft and it doesn't have any weird fluids coming out of it. Its just a little bump. It doesn't look funky or anything. I'm just worried cause it just appeared.

If it's not STD's, then it just might be an abnormal growth. If I were you I would consult with my GYN to see what it really is and let your GYN know that this "bump" is really bothering you and you are determine to find out what it is. If the out come of all your testing is still just a "bump", then try to worry too much, especially if it doesn't bother your partner. My best wishes to you in your research. Not everything that goes on in the vagina area is herpes. Yes its almost everywhere,. but if you were tested you know you are clean. There is a name that is not coming to me right now, but they are common. Mstly in women beyond 35 but can occur at any age. No biggy.
During your next check up it can be froze off, or sooner if it interferes with your love life. And after a week at the most is healed and gone. If you ask around Im sure family members will also tell you, maybe, that it is common in some families.
Besides heredity, thongs, underwear can also cause a callous of sorts.

OK if it is small and the same color as the rest and hard then I am almost POSITIVE that its genital warts.. look I'm telling you I have them I know exactly what you are talking about and when I went for my pap they said nothing about it I had to actually ask them what it was but if you don't believe me call your ob and schedule an app to have it looked at but I can almost bet money on it that its genital warts...

ranieri I know what you are referring to and again if you are talking about freezing off then yes its warts... its not a big deal... doesnt make you dirty or nasty or anything like that... youd be surprised at how many people have them... its nothing to worry about... but the one thing you don't have is herpes I know that for sure..

So I went to the gyno for an annual visit and asked about the bump. She said that I had prollie gotten a small cut down there and fluids got in it. She also told me its very common and not be worried that it would go away on its on. So its not genital warts or cancer or any of those other things people have said. Its just a small harmless bump.

As many as 80 % of women get HPV human papaloma virus. They cause vaginal warts or bumps. They can be removed and most women develop an immunity to them after they are removed meaning just like warts on the hands they don't come back after immunity is developed. HOWEVER some strains cause cervical cancer although Thank God most strains do NOT. THIS is where the NEW COMMERCIAL for the HPV VACCINATION for young women is being aired now HAVE YOU SEEN IT>? I am in the NY NJ Area and it is running on TV all the time. It encourages women to get the shot to avoid the strains that cause cervical cancer in the future. HOWEVER there are MANY MANY strains of this virus and most are NOT CANCER CAUSING best to be safe than sorry. Check your boyfriends testicles as most men when they have the warts you will SEE TINY BUMPS on the scrotum but NOT ALWAYS the virus can be transmitted when NO Visible SYMPTOMS are there. GO to a doctor he can tell JUST BY SIGHT if they are vaginal warts. THEN he can remove them. Good Health and Good Luck. Because a doctor told a very good friend of mine the same thing and the dr was wrong. Very wrong. I agree with the others. That doctor that told my friend it was nothing>? That 'nothing' turned cancerous years later. Doctors are not GOD and I would get a second opinion I mean you came here for answers and everyone with PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE is telling you what to look for. But it seems you don't want to believe it and like I said that doctor my friend had made a terrible mistake. Please get a second opinion or don't blast everyone here that is trying to help you with some very very personal issues they are opening up to you about. Hi. My name is Briana =) No offense to some of the people on this board, but it doesn't seem as if everyone knows exactly what they're talking about.

Firstly, you cannot conclude that you are positive that some one has an STD simply by hearing something. You're no doctor you cannot diagnose anything.

If you've been checked, and apparently more than once, and your partner as well, and every time it's come out clear, then I'm sure it's not anything to worry about.

Having a bump doesn't automatically mean you're diseased or infected.

Imagine this, for instance. You shave your entire private area and your underwear rubs up against it and before the hair starts growing back you form small bumps around your vaginal/butt area (But not inside). This is called razorburn! Many people get it. On their face, under arms, legs and genital area.

Pimples (That are not related to disease or infection) can also grow because you have to understand that your vaginal area is not the cleanest place. Wearing certain types of underwear, having a bloody pad rub up against razor burn (Et cetera)trust me. It can be nasty. I'd know. I used to shave a lot and get bumps all the time.

In fact, they got so unbelievably infected once that I thought it was for sure I had an STD. I even broke the news to my boyfriend before even getting checked. He assured me it was probably only pimples but nothing anyone said would make me feel better. I knew for sure I'd contracted something (although I never "slept around".

I'd gone to the GYN and I'd had blood tests and a pap smear and had my fluids swiped. When I'd gone the bumps had cleared up a bit since I'd gotten them, and I'd had them for about two months without going away. It got bad when I'd get on my period and the bloody pad would rub against them it would make it worse.

Well all my results came back negative. Nothing at all. In fact, I was told it was infected razor burn and it tends to happen when a person uses a dull blade, it gets infected and then that's hot ingrown hairs happen, I believe.

Although this is not your situation I'm sure, I'm just saying it's ill minded to say that bumps are not normal. The vaginal area is just like every other part of the body when it comes to skin. If you can grow pimples or razor bumps on the face, legs, back or any other part of the body you can grow them there too. Apparently your GYN would know more than anyone else so. Just keep going for check ups to make sure everything is clear. Take care

Jaxie, no offense but I think you've got the wrong idea. People don't just tell people what they want to hear. It's not their job to tell people what they want to hear. When I got checked and it came back negative I wanted nothing but the truth. They would not lie about something like this because it can affect that persons health and it benefits the person more to know than not know. The doctors certainly weren't hesitant in telling me I had Chlamydia. Glad it's not a regular permanent STD. I currently have a few tiny razor like bumps not near my vaginal area but instead by my leg area. (Bikini line) or whatever they call it. Of course I'm going to ask my GYN about it but let's hope that it's nothing to freak out about.

Hmm. Just checking in again. I see there aren't any further answers posted but just a heads up I went to the GYN today and had her observe the bumps I was talking about and she claimed it appeared to be razor burn and that using soaps down there is a bad thing. Apparently you're not supposed to use soaps to wash your area and it can affect the skin down there, which ultimately can cause infection which leads to bumps that can be mistaken for something else. I've been checked for STDs as well. Cleared. Hope that you've gotten all the answers you need though from your doc. Take care.

It could be something as minor as an ingrown pubic hair, the best thing is to get it checked out and ask your DR.

Hmm wow the same thing happened to me. The gyno can check for vaginal warts and if she/he said it's not HPV then its not. It just takes a little special vinager to tell. I went to my gyno 3 times before I actually trusted them. She told me "everyones vagina is diffrent, bumps show up and dissapear. Your vagina may change shape as you get older and do wierd things and thats normal". So as long as your discharge hasn't changed smell or color. I think your fine.

I wasn't really sure how to ask a new question about this topic, but, I have had little bumps around my genital area for a few months now. But now I noticed I have a large bump underneath the skin, much larger than before, and it really hurts. And I also have a similar under the skin bump a few inches up on my lower abdomen. I have no idea what it is, and I noticed somewhat of an odor when I started noticing the bumps. I've only been with one person, but not intercourse, and he gets tested every three months and is clean. I don't think it can be an STD. But I'm really scared that it could be a cyst. Is there a possibility that I am wrong, and it is an STD?

I have noticed the dame thing and when I researched it. It came up with this site.
I too have just been tested as well as my partner. But the thing is I felt it appear... I was showering and washing and I felt a bump its like a bump that women get when they have breast cancer. Almost like an in grown hair but its too big its like a pimple 10x the size but its not open.. no fluids... no itching... it kind of hurts but that's cause its in an awkward place and its like I'm sitting on it. I'm veryy curious and want to no what it is.when it happened it did not inflame it was like the bump moved from inside kind of these things are hard to describe.
