My kitchen sink disposer just stopped working. The problem started with an initial humming sound coming from the motor when I switched on the disposer and after a while stopped working altogether.

Don't know if this means the unit is burnt or just something that can easily be fixed by me.

Any idea how this can be resolved without draining my lean pocket?

Witt power off, I take broom or solid object, work back or forth, reset may be on bottom of disposal. Just press. Try again. If froze stop immediately, Try and free up again.

With an allen wrench you can insert on bottom to unjam. There is a spot there for the wrench, then hit reset button
