    Diagnosed with hyperthyroid
I was diagnosed with hyperthyroid about 6 months ago, and had the iodine radiation treatment in February. For the last couple of months I feel like a different person and my doctor told me that my thyroid is "hypo" now and has given me the Synthroid tabs once a day. Its been 2 months, and still have the fatigue, weight put on, lack of sleep and other symptoms and was wondering if it would be OK for me to take in addition to the Synthroid, some natural tyrhoid pills, to help me with the symptoms.
Don't want to ask my doctor, because every time that I tell him that I am depressed, aching, fatigued, etc. he tells me that it takes time!! Doesn't even give me anything to sleep so if I could take the natural supplements to help the Synthroid work faster I thought it would be a good idea.
    Any suggestions?

    Irhall41:

Have your doctor repeat your thyroid tests [ tsh, free t4 ]
To see if your medication dose needs to be adjusted.

Thyroid medicines need to be taken on an empty stomach , food may interfere with absorption.

    Supplements are "buyer beware"

I would not expect immediate, noticeable results for 2-4 weeks - most thyroid changes are gradual / subtle .

    Hope you feel better.

I think you have the right to suggest what ever you like to the doctor you can ask for another blood test if you want, I might have thyroid disease and would ask if it were me
