I have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care Heavy Duty super capacity plus washing machine that is about 9 years old and just not spinning very fast we found the bearing in the plastic housing underneath the softner dispenser is wore but have no idea the part number or where to begin looking for one.If you put pressure on top of the agitator while it is running it has no problems moving but the second you remove it the top quits and the bottom still goes slowly. Any ideas?

Depending on how hard the water is etc... the mechanism that stops the movement of drum when the lid is opened may need repair... I have sold them for Sears...

If it is the transmission - it may still be covered by warranty... contact the manufact - there may also have been a recall that you didn't hear about..

You will find that Transmissions, like cars, are warranted much longer than the hoses and belts. If, as you say, it is such a heavy duty pimped out model... there may have been a warranty to back up the additional cost at retail.. and yes recalls call still be in effect depending on the manufacturer - which in this case - is a good one..
