    In-Ground Pool Leak
I have an in-ground vinyl pool and I use a Polaris 280 automatic vacuum with a booster pump. When I do use the vacuum, a run of about 2 hours, the water level in the pool drops about 2 to 3 inches. This is a significant loss of water, but I do not see water anywhere around the pool or filter. I assuming this is a undergound leak that is caused by the using the booster pump. My question is, how do I go about investigating this leak and what are the possible repair solutions.

The next step is to have a pressure test done and identify the location of the leak with sonar, listening devices, a stethoscope or common sense.

Pressure testing a pool will identify which lines are leaking, and to what degree they are leaking which should also assist with locating the origin of the leak. This is not the type of problem that you want to leave for long.

The pressure test should be readily affordable by a pool professional, but chasing a leak if it is buried especially under a concrete deck can be costly.

I hope this information is helpful.

If you can find a good leak detection specialist, they can make the job eaier for you. They can not only pressure test the line, like another pool guy will, but they can pinpoint the leak under the concrete. That way, when you need to have someone come in and break a hole and fix the leak, there is no "chasing the leak". Hey just make a small hole, and fix the problem without killing your wallet. I used United Leak Detection. They found 3 leaks in my vinyl pool in about 10 minutes and had them fixed 20 mintes later. They are at United Leak Detection and they go all over the place to find stuff.:)
