On the pill, missing my period.
Hi, I'm 20, married, two kids, 2 1/2 and 4 months. I started on the pill for the first time about two months ago. It is Loestrin 24 Fe. A 4 day period at the end of the pack instead of 7. I had a lot of spotting the first month. But this month seemed more normal. I was spotting about a week ago I think. So, yesterday was the first of the four placebo pills. Last month I was already spotting when I started the placebo pills, and started a period within hours of taking the first placebo. Well today will be my second placebo pill and still no period, and not even spotting. I'm a little freaked out! I take my pill usually within the same 15 minute time slot every night. I do know that once or twice I may have been more like 1-2 hours late. I looked in my b.c. pill information and they give no info about being hours or less late. Only whole days! So I assumed that an hour or two was all right. Anyway, another thing I thought of was that I was on antibiotics about a week and a half ago. Azithromyacin (sp? ) for a sinus infection, and some antibitotic eye drops for pink eye. I made sure the Dr. knew I was on b.c. pills. So... any ideas anyone? I doubt it would be early enough for a test. And I'll be seeing my ob/gyn tomorrow for a pre-scheduled visit.

Antibiotics usually will drop the effectiveness of any because pill. I wouldn't worry too much until you miss another period since your body is getting used to the pills. Ask your dr questions tomorrow and make sure you get the answers that you need. Remember you are paying them for a service.

I'm considering asking my ob/gyn for a blood pregnancy test tomorrow, if I haven't started yet. I'm supposed to get a new prescription for my because pills but why bother if I'm pregnant? I'm trying so hard not to stress about this. I have had so many "scares" before my last baby, but I would eventually start my period. I think that I prolongue the missing period by being stressed about it. I get so bad I just about have panic attacks. My poor husband is going to get all my worries unloaded upon him when he gets home in an hour! And he'll probably tell me to chill out.

Well my Dr says I'm not pregnant. And there could be many reasons for no period. (Which I still haven't gotten!). Could be that my body is still getting used to being on the pill. Or it could be that I've been nursing much more frequently in this hot weather and that could've stopped my periods temporarily. (I have periods while nursing.) Who knows. Anyway Thanks for the encouragement and ideas Myth! I'm glad I didn't stress too much about this 'cause it would've been for nothing. :)

We all have those times... Heck I used to skip my period every other month and I was using two different kinds of because... condoms and pill. I still freaked. I have the marina iud now and it's great. No pill to remember and it's good for five years.
