    Bank holds and child support
Hi everyone... I hope you can help me with my question. A credit card company placed a "hold" on my checking account on Friday. When I met with the banker he told me that the hold was placed on July 2 and is up on the 30th. My debit card is useless. However, I did make a payment for my phone online on July 5th by paying on the website and using "pay by check" instead of credit/debit card. It went through and was confirmed by the phone company. When they placed a hold on my account, there was only $36 in my checking account. I'm going to assume that no money was taken out because this is less than the "supposed" limit for disposable income.

However... here is my question. Can the credit card company place a hold on deposits made through the state of Michigan for child support and alimony? I know that social security payments are exempt but I cannot find anywhere that will tell me if child support payments made to me are protected from garnishment.

    Hope someone can help!
    Thanks!:

There can be only one attachment at a time, if child support is attached to that account, the second one will have to wait.
