    baystat240 to honeywell rth6300b thermostats
Trying to change my old baystat240 thermostat to a honeywell rth6300b thermostat. I am not sure where I should be placing the old wires from since there are more than I expected.

    The Baystat had 8 wires
    R-Red
    T-Brown
    O-Orange
    G-Green
    Y-Yellow
    X2-black
    B-Blue
    W-White

I know that the R, G, Y, W go where they are designated on the honeywell but I don't know if I need to scrap the other wires or place them in with the RGYW on the honeywell. This is for an AC and Gas Furnace. The honewell only has the standard RGYW and the Rc jumper. Any help would be appreciated.

The R, W, G, Y, are the common wire connections for a gas furnace and electric air conditioning system. The BAYSTAT 240 is for a heat pump system, the T is for a thermistor located in the out door unit, the B is the common from the transformer to operate the lights on the thermosat, the O is to bring on the reversing valve in the heat pump, the X-2 is for emergency heat. Its been over twenty five years since I have installed this type of stat, it was made by G.E. which is now Trane. The new stat will work with any single stage gas- electric system, jumper RC to RH, varify the fact that you don't have a heat pump, if you do then the new stat will not work. Mike
