    Installing new shower pan drain
I purchased a shower pan drain for my new shower pan. When installing it there is a rubber washer and looks to be a paper washer I set the crome male threaded end through the pan hole then went under home and threaded it onto the under side of the shower pan bottom. Rubber seal first then the paper washer then threaded the lower body nice and snug. Is this correct.

Shower drains are installed with a ring of plumbers putty or silicon gel under the lip of the male threaded piece which then goes into the hole in the base.
On the under side the neoprene washer goes first, then the fiber friction washer and finally the nut that secures the drain assembly. As you tighten the retaining nut the putty or silicone gel squeezes out from the lip of the drain to make a seal. Sound like you have things pretty much under control. Good luck, Tom
