I have a 2 year old Whirlpool window A/C unit. Around 2 weeks ago, it started making a horrific squeal. We took it out, oiled it, and it quieted down. Well last night it started again. I wouldn't think that the oil would have wore off already, or if maybe that's not the case at all. I cannot afford to put it in the shop, much less buy a new one, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

The oil didn't wear off but the bearing have seized in the motor. Not a cheap fix. You might take it back out and out of the casing and start in up just to veify the fan isn't hitting something but I'm sure thi bearings are shot
