Continuing with the earlier Maytag refrig. Problem; condenser and fan cleaned, condenser fan is running. Where is the defrost timer located? (Side x Side). Door gaskets seem to be okay. The refrig is in the house. Additional, checked evaporator coil again. Very, very small amount of frost and no blockage. Defrosted with hair dryer and very little run water run off. Evaporator fan runs when freezer control is turned on. Bottom return vent from refrig. Open and no ice. Could not remove upper interior housing in refrig. To check for obstruction in cold air supply. Afraid of breaking rear tabs. After all this and 24 hours later freezer at -5 and refrig still at 45. Freezer control at mid point and refrig at 9 or max. Turned freezer control 1/2 notch to warmer this morning. Did notice that not much air is coming from upper left corner of refrig but maybe that is normal as I don't know how much should be blowing.

Well, I answered but guess I for got to post. The frezzer is good at -5 and ref shold be around 38-40. Frost is OK on bottom of evap as it will disapate during defrost. I tend to believe a restriction in duct or damper not fully opening. On occasion I have seen where the light will not go off in ref. Open door and depress door switch to verify it going out. It probably is but we need to check everything. Also possible the cold control but let's check these things out first. Much eaiser to troubleshoot in person but you seem to have knowledge to be able to get through this. Also do you have a meter if we need to go into further testing?

Another thing I forgot to mention is to turn the control in freezer side a little warmer. This should force more air to ref side. You are cold enough on freezer side that you won't have to worry about temp there as it can be -5-5 degree

Light will go off and yes do have a meter.

Turning the freezer control made no difference? The evaporator fan running proper speed. Note where contro is set in freezer and turn it all way up. Does more air flow through duct. Check the cold control sensing bulb stuck in evaporator coil. Be sure it is mounted securely in coil. All back side and under clean. All this checks out I believe you will need to change the cold control (Thermostat) They do loose there charge in the bulb

Turning freezer control made no difference. Not sure on evaporator fan speed. It does turn on when freezer control is turned on and rotates fairly fast. Freezer now on 4.5 and turning to 9 does not seem to get more air in refrig. Cold sensing bulb is wrapped in what looks like a sheet of putty on a refrigerant tube. Back side and bottom clean and clear.

I would try and getting th duct off to check to see that door will open to let cold air through. Everything else seems OK. The thing is the freezer is normal temp but the air is just not geeting to ref side. The one thing not correct here is turning the freeze control from one setting to another, it makes no difference in the air flow. The promblem has to be there. Either control is bad or damper door nor opening to let cold air over to ref side.
