A riding mower has a stator under the flywheel that produces power to recharge the battery. The system has a diode in the line coming out from under the flywhee which is usually red. The diode keeps electricity flowing in a one way path which goes from the stator to the top of the solenoid and back to the battery. There are magnets under the flywheel which cause the current... jumping off the mower will not stop the charging system on its own but I would check the battery. You may also unplug the wire which contains the diode (usually a bulge in the line), put a tester on it for dc voltage and you should read anywhere from 14 to 17 volts.. also with the engine running, you should have about 15 volts at the battery terminals.

Yes, If The Charging System Is Functioning Properly It Will Charge The Battery. The Real Question Here Is, Is It The Battery, The Charging System, The Cables, The Wires, The Switch, Or The Diode??
