    Smelly fridge water
I have bought a house and when I got the key the refrigerator was turned off and the doors closed, so you can imagine the smell. I cleaned it, changed the water filter but the water is still smelly. How can I get rid of the smelly water?

I would disconnect water line at back of unit and run water into bucket to clean out the supply line. Then hook it back up and run water cotinuiously from ref to clean those lines. You may want to replace filter again after short usage.

Most smelly water is a result of bacteria somewhere in the system. I would suggest you make sure you have a refrigerator water filter that is designed for CTO, “Chlorine, Taste and Oder” like the LG Refrigerator Filter 5231JA2006A CTO. I would also suggest checking the water lines that lead from your water source to the refrigerator and lines with in the fridge. These too can build up bacteria if left sitting for long periods with out use.

The OP's are right. I know this is an old post but I went through this recently and maybe someone else will profit. I took off the water line and soaked it in vinegar and then a baking soda solution. And them replaced the refrigerator water filtersfor good measure. Worked for me.
