    Riding mower keeps blowing fuses.
I have a Cub Cadet LT1024 riding mower that keeps blowing the fuse. As soon as I turn the key it blows the fuse. I replaced the fuse and it smoked from under the flywheel and then blew the fuse. I replaced the fuse and unpluged the 2 wires that go up under the flywheel and turned the key on and it didn't blow the fuse. I think that I have a wire grounded out or the alternator is bad. Do the alternators usually go bad on B&S engines? Or is it more likely a wire shorted out? I am going to buy a flywheel puller tomorrow and look to see what's going on. Any ideas?? On what the problem might be??
    Thanks,

Probably a wire. You don't have an alternator. Normally, you can get the flywheel off by pulling around on it. If that is where the smoke was that is where the problem is. Good luck

I got the flywheel off and the alternator was fried.
The parts catalog calls this the Alternator, part number 696458
Here is a link to the parts catalog. http://www.briggsandstratton.com/ipl...100/MS5195.pdf
