Please help me with this. I will try to keep it simple. My boy friend lost his house approx. 15 years ago. He and his comon law spouse split up and he left her with the house and the income from the upstairs apartment. She failed to keep her part of the bargain which I believe was payment of the second mortgage... not real clear on that part, and it was because of her failure that he lost the house. The bank took over and sold the house for less than the market value even though it had extensive renovations and they told my boyfriend he had to pay the difference. He told them at this point what they could do in no uncertain terms because he didn't have the money or he would have paid the overdue amount. There is much more to the story but we'll get to the point. It has been fifteen years and now they are contacting him. Could it be a scavenger? and what are the statute of limitations in Ontario Canada.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
