:confused: My 9 week old pit bull has had the runs for about two days.. she goes almost exactly every 2 hours.. and just right now I found blood in her poop

Her poop is extremely watery, and she'll play for about 5 minutes then go to bed for two hours then wake up to poop again.

She is eating really good though. And also drinking a lot of water.

Anyone know what may be wrong? If there is anything wrong?:confused:

HeyD, it can be any number of things. A puppy so young that is showing signs of blood in stool needs to be examined by a vet as soon as possible. Since we are at the weekend, please call your vet tonight and see if they have anyone working this evening and/or tomorrow. Please take samples of her stool into the vets office when you bring the pup in. It will help them in trying to figure out what is going on. Use any plastic bag you have to scoop it up. Please let us know how she is doing.

P.S. Labman provides a link to a website that gives information on parvo virus. This is a deadly virus that can kill a young puppy. I am not stating that is definitely what your puppy has, but it might be worth arming yourself with knowledge prior to visiting the vets office. Please click on the link.

Chico honey, I am so very sorry for your loss. I know you and your family tried everything you could to save her. At 3 weeks of age, the odds for survival without their mama are greatly decreased. Please know you did nothing wrong.

HeyDelilah, I hope you have taken steps to contact your vet by now. Chico has a post here on this forum that goes in depth what he and his family went through. It is very distressful. Please take his advice and let us know how your puppy is doing.

HI EVERYONE.. sorry I haven't posted anything and just want to say thank you for the advice... we took the pup to see a vet and her tests came out negative... She must have eaten something to upset her stomach.. woooooo... :)

I am very glad she is fine. When our pitbulls are pups, we definitely have to keep a VERY close eye on them. They will eating ANYTHING. You have to constantly redirect their attention because they are usually little piggies when it comes to eating. It always amazes me as to what they are willing to swallow. Whatever it was, she is lucky that it managed to pass through her system. It did cut her up somewhere inside for her to have pooped blood. In case no one has discussed this with you, do not give her rawhide. PBs will chew off large chunks and swallow them. Rawhide doesn't break down in the body the way regular kibble does. A large enough chunk can get caught in the stomach/intestines and if it isn't caught in time, dogs do die from that.

The pet stores are full of toys that many dogs will quickly chew up into pieces they could choke on or cause intestinal blockages. If you are not
There to watch, stick to sturdy stuff such as Nylabones and Kongs. Keep a
Close eye on chew toys and quickly discard anything that is coming apart in
Pieces. Rawhide is especially bad because it swells after being swallowed.
These problems are the worst with, but not limited to, large, aggressive
Chewers such as Labs.
