    Tongue piercing questions.
I just recently got my tongue pierced last saturday and its thursday now. I talk with a lisp, and my mouth is just constantly full of spit! i can't even talk to anyone, because noone understands. Do these 2 problems go away?? im pretty sure the swellings all down, ive been using Crest Pro-Health Non Alcoholic mouthwash after i eat and brush my teeth morning and nite. I keep eating popsicles, soup, yogurt and pudding. Ive managed to eat a bowl of pasta very slowly and very chewed up. Am i doing a good job with the aftercare? Any other helpful suggestions on things i should do?? And when do i need to get the long barbell changed to a shorter one??

    Thanks. Ill appreciate any feedback!

You sound like you have been doing a good job with aftercare! The lisp and spit will eventually go away. Your mouth is still adjusting to having something foreign in it. Plus, you might still have some lingering swelling that might not be noticeable just by looking at it. I was able to change my tongue ring after six weeks, but your tongue piercing can take 4-6 months to heal fully. Just make sure if you do change it after six weeks, don't leave a barbell out of it for very long. A fresh tongue piercing can close within an hour. :)
