Senior dog peeing in her sleep.
We have a 14 year old Aussie mix, who a couple months ago peed in her sleep, we thought nothing of it because we had been up pretty late and forgot to let her out. Then a month had past and she peed in her sleep again. She feels completely horrible about it when she wakes up and realizes what she did. She doesn't even realize it until we all get up! But now recently she has done it twice in one month, and it wasn't because we forgot to take her out. It is also a very large amount of pee. And she used to be awesome at waking us up in the middle of the night. What is wrong with my baby! I am horribly concerned, please offer advice.:(

Sounds like your girl is a little incontinent with age, it happens to all of us, human and older doggies too. I had a friend once who put a diaper (you know, Attends) on her old girl at night, and she actually knew I think that it would help her and she didn't fight it a bit.

Sorry to hear that, just be patient with her.

Take her to the vet. My 13 year old Lab was doing that early this year. A weekly hormone pill took care of it. Your vet won't need to be told what my vet did for my dog. Just carefully observe all you can about her and take her in. Tell the vet all you know. Answer the his questions and take his advice.

Thank You so much! I took her to the vet and they gave me estrogen, hasn't peed the bed in 2 nights! Keep your fingers crossed!

I think it just has to do with old age... I had a 12 yr old dachshund an he also would pee in his sleep. I had no choice but to wash his bed about twice per week.
