Theft from Employer Under $5000 - Canada
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Please no criticism. I just need to calm my nerves.

    - 19 years of age attending University
    - Took cash/gift cards from employer (14 transactions)
    - Amount taken was $3960
    - Restitution has already been made, I have paid back everything I took
    - First offence
    - I live in Canada (Manitoba)

What kind of punishment am I looking at? What are the chances of jail time? Any chance of having the charges stayed since restitution has already been made? I've been told that I'll most likely get probation and have to pay full restitution (which I've already done). I'm just extremely worried about going to jail. I'd do anything I possibly can to avoid going to jail.

How long ago was this and did the employer mention anything about not pressing charges? Why do you think he might if he was repaid?

Charges have already been pressed. As far as I know, the employer is just a shadow in all of this now. I'm just waiting for my court date in which the Crown will decide what type of punishment I will receive, other than restitution. I was just wondering on what type of punishment the Crown would give me.

Probation, a fine, some community service... jail time is unlikely, especially since you can show the court you have already made restitution and are resourceful of your actions.

What was the result of this? Were the charges dropped? How did it play out?
