    Crate Training
My dog Gizmo is 2 months old and we have had her for about a week. She is crated at night and she has consistently pooped her crate. Multiple times at night. We have used the gate to separate so she has a small space. She sits on her excrement. She is crated next to our other dog so she is not lonely. What can I do to keep her from pooping in her crate.

Do you make sure you clean the crate really well. Sometimes the smell lingers and then they think it is all right to continue to go in the crate. Also if you remove any blankets you have in the crate that helps and then wash them and return them when the dog has learned not to go in her crate.

Do a search here, and you will find many such questions, and few reports of success. I think it is largely the stress of being left alone. Medications from the vet have helped as well as anything. Try the trick of laying down in front of the crate like you were sleeping there. Perhaps add a peanut butter filled Kong. Walk around the last trip outside at night. Exercise stimulates bowel movements. Please post back if anything helps.
