We want to have a dryer connected in a new area of the house. One Plumber told us it must now be steel pipe with threaded couplings--cannot be copper tubing. Is this valid? Why? What should it cost to run about 60 ft of connection line?

Black pipe is the standard for gas. Frequently you can drop down to a flex copper pipe to make your connection. Cost is very much dependent on the going rate for l;abor in your area. I'd ball park it at $300 but wonder why the run is so long. Most homes aren't more than 30 to 40 feet at the max. Where are you running this line.
Tank is @ end of house--new drier location is upstairs @ other end. Also will probably have to replace existing copper to meet current code. Thanks for quick response!
